Tom Meighan: "Wow, what a legend!" aneb veselá "historka z natáčení"
Zajímavý rozhovor poskytl Nealovi Johnsonovi Tom Meighan ze skupiny Kassabian serveru news.com.au (KLIK). Frontman se poměrně ostře vymezil vůči U2 a jejich fanouškům. Kassabian byli ve Frankfurtu jako předskokani (alespoň podle mého) celkem strašní. Na druhou stranu je zajímavé slyšet názor z "druhé" strany.
Did you learn much with U2 on their giant 360 tour?
Nah, mate, I didn't take in anything supporting them, them gigs were horrible. Worst ever. U2 fans are cardboard cut-outs. Can you imagine supporting U2? Their fans are probably into one band and one album - Joshua Tree.
I didn't learn anything 'cos that's just a f---ing different level. It was amazing to watch and meet them, but I didn't learn anything apart from just get the f--- out (laughs).
Did you feel you may as well have been playing to an empty stadium?
That's how it felt to us. We were the support, so it is what it is. I hate supporting bands, we're not a support band. So that's never gonna happen again.
Did you get any words of wisdom from Bono?
He told me about this Irish poet guy, I can't remember his name. 'Cos my dad's Irish as well. He's like, "Look at this guy on YouTube", or whatever. That's all he said to me, something f---ing big like that (laughs).
You never Googled it, did you?
No, I never looked it up. As soon as he said his name,
I forgot it (laughs).
Some people would kill for that opportunity.
Well, it ain't really as big as you think it is. I forgot what he said straight away. I was just looking at him going, "Wow, what a legend. You've got leather trousers on. Legend".
